As I go along on this mission to help cure CMT1A, I’ll be recording as many of my conversations as I can in podcast format. The idea is to give people multiple ways to follow along with what I’m doing.

And I won’t only be speaking with scientists and others within the CMT community. As a way to grow the mission and get the word out, I’ll also be sitting down with people who have larger followings of their own. If that happens to be you and you’re interested in filming an episode with me, just click here to get in touch.

Why am I doing it this way, you might ask?

As a former jiu-jitsu competitor—a sport that hardly anyone watches unless they’re also involved in it—I understand that not everything is a “spectator sport.” The same is true for science. Most people probably aren’t going to stumble across a conversation about peripheral nerve biology or gene therapy and decide to spend an hour watching it.

But if you want people to care about something, sometimes you first have to earn their attention. And I believe the best way to do that is by reaching people in a variety of ways, bringing them into the story, and hopefully giving them a reason to stick around.
